The problem is obvious.
In Columbus, we have a rigged system, designed by those currently in office to ensure that big money and a small group of people control the future of our city.
The rigged system is working exactly as designed.
The system Columbus uses to elect Councilmembers ignored the will of 63% of voters in District 7 in the recent election. A candidate that won just 37% of the votes in District 7 will now represent that district for four years. (Read more here.)
This is our city and we deserve a say.
As voters in Columbus, should we have a say in who represents Cleveland or Toledo in the Ohio state legislature? Of course not. Nor should Clintonville voters decide who represents Franklinton, the Hilltop or South Side on City Council.
The solution is simple:
One council member. One district. Elected by the people who live there.
